MISSOULA — COVID-19 has forced many businesses to close their doors to the public, leaving downtown Missoula looking a little different.

"It looks like a ghosttown," said Linda McCarthy, Downtown Missoula Partnership Executive Director.

She said, "None of us really know exactly what the future holds, in the moment, but what we do know is Missoula is comprised of locally owned businesses who care very much about their community. They're gonna do what it takes to come out of this on the other end."

Walking downtown, store fronts are closed, sidewalks are empty. McCarthy said this is a good time for businesses to catch up on renovations, and build a stronger online presence.

"It's been really, in some ways inspiring, to see how our businesses are pivoting, and working to support community needs, and each other, and doing everything they can to keep their employees on the payroll."

Businesses are getting creative offering virtual art galleries, remote workouts, and make-up delivery.

"It's an interesting time," McCarthy said.
