One of the most popular hikes in the Missoula area are the trails around Blue Mountain. While usually fairly populated thanks to its proximity to the Garden City, Blue Mountain's vast number of hikes allow visitors to find something new each time they visit and get away from the crowds and into the trees for as far or brief as they'd like.

Blue Mountain, which hosts a Frisbee golf course, also is one of the best off-leash options for dog walkers in the area.

MTN Sports took a look at Blue Mountain and some of the trail options in the video above.

Reminder: This hiking series is meant to highlight some of the many options available to hikers around western Montana during this unusual time. These are meant as ideas to keep in mind when life begins to normalize and people are looking for hiking options in the area.

However, Gov. Steve Bullock deemed hiking, among other outdoor activities, essential back on March 26. People are allowed to continue hiking in recreation areas that are still open to the public. If you do choose to go out and explore, please comply with social distancing measures and stay six feet away from other hikers to keep yourself and others safe. Don't leave home if you're sick and wash your hands upon returning home. Also, don't put yourself in situations that cause a higher possibility of injury or that would stress the ability of first responders to aid or from addressing the COVID-19 emergency.
