MISSOULA — Hellgate High’s Industrial Trades and Technology students are tackling an issue the city of Missoula faces regularly during the late summer and winter - poor air quality.
Teacher, Brian Hoover, is this week’s winner of a One Class at a Time grant sponsored by Republic Services and KPAX-TV.
KPAX-TV General Manager, Bob Hermes, presented Hoover a $250 check which Hoover will use to purchase equipment for an Air Quality Station.
"To actually get on the computers and start out writing code and testing out the sensors and see how they work and put it all together and have something that can solve a problem, and address an issue that we have is pretty neat for them," said Hoover.
The students will be solving a complex problem by building Air Quality sensors which will be placed at the school.
Hoover added this offers the students an opportunity to build, code, measure, and report the information they collect.
