MISSOULA — Missoula Pediatric Dentistry offered free dental care to veterans on Saturday.
This is the third year of the dentist office offering free services like teeth cleaning, x-rays and dental exams.
Pediatric Dentist Susan Tiede is a navy veteran and had started this event when a former co-worker had mentioned that their previous job offered free care around Veterans Day.
The event was a collaborative effort from Tiede and Missoula Oral Surgeon Doctor Grant Wiswell to provide veterans clean teeth as well as resources to continue to address their dental needs at a low cost in the future.
“It’s such a cool thing, that were we are trying to provide a service to the veterans -- and the number of people who say is there something I can do?" Tiede said. "We have women who come from different groups in town and to just sit and have coffee with and hangout in the lunchroom with the veterans and visit with them so its just a great great day."
"And [it's] nice to help and address some needs and give these veterans some information on what they need to do and help them find resources to go to continue their treatment," she added.
Missoula Pediatric Dentistry had a line at the door and stayed busy with patients all day until the event ended at 1:30 in the afternoon.
