MISSOULA — If you found yourself downtown for Small Business Saturday, you might have run into an enthusiastic group from Park Side Credit Union.

As part of their “Park Side Pays” initiative, credit union staff members reward people by paying for their purchases at various local events throughout the year.

Saturday was no exception as the group stopped into a handful of shops participating in Small Business Saturday, applauding community members for shopping locally.

At each stop, the group handed out 10 dollar bills to random recipients, regardless of whether or not they’re members of the credit union.

Credit Union staffer Deborah Stapley Graham explained their mission, saying, “You know our clients are our members, they’re members of the credit union, but we’re members of the community on a larger scale, and to be able to give today….we can receive at other times and it just kind of makes the world go round.”

With the holidays in full swing, the group said it’s the perfect time for what they’re calling “gorilla giving.”
