Update Oct. 31, 12:30 p.m.: Yellowstone County Coroner Cliff Mahoney says one man died in the crash.

Donald C. Nimmick, 74, was the pilot killed.

Nimmick was from Oakpoint, Tex. and on his way to the Three Forks, according to Mahoney.

An autopsy is planned for Monday.

A small plane has crashed just north of the Billings Logan International Airport.

The airport's control tower lost contact with the plane around 7 p.m., and emergency crews located the plane around 8:30 p.m.
