MISSOULA — The Missoula Family YMCA is expanding its out-of-school programs while reducing enrollment costs for families thanks to CARES Act funding.

The YMCA learned last week that it would receive federal grant money through the end of 2020.

The YMCA's current out-of-school programs include before-school care at Hellgate Elementary, after-school care at four elementary schools, and full-day enrichment for all K through sixth grade students.

YMCA CEO Heather Foster says this is a challenging time for families, and she’s thankful they can offer expanded financial assistance and create a barrier-free application for those who are the life-blood of the organization.

“This really allows us to loosen up what we currently have as our financial assistance grid in a meaningful way so families depending on their income could potentially qualify for over 80% financial assistance for a program.”
