FRENCHTOWN – A group with the Outdoorsman Church hosted a 5K fun run on Sunday at Frenchtown Pond State Park to fuel the fight against breast cancer.

The Outdoorsman Church started organizing races in 2016 and last year raised around $2,400. Organizers were hoping to raise another $2,400 this year.

Race director Carly Lewis has a personal connection to the event and loved seeing the community come together to participate in the fundraiser.

“A few years ago my mom was fighting breast cancer, and she lives in a rural area, and I realized at that time how much trouble it was going back-and-forth for both the chemo and radiation treatments. So cancers enough of a burden of its own. Having to pay extra gas money shouldn’t be an extra burden for people,” said Lewis.

All of the donations and registration fees from Sunday’s event went toward putting money on the prepaid cards.  Click here to for more information and how you can help.
