MISSOULA – Heads up for folks traveling through the South Avenue and Higgins Avenue intersection early this week: Northwestern Energy will be detouring traffic due to work on the gas mainline in that area, according to a statement the company released Monday.
The detour beings 8 p.m. Monday and ends 6 a.m. Tuesday while crews are working overnight.
Eastbound traffic on South Avenue East will be closed. Drivers will be rerouted using Beckwith Avenue and other eastbound avenues. This will affect people who are driving toward the University District, according to the statement.
Crews will be completing a scheduled valve repair and the company says there should be no interruption to energy services for homes or businesses.
The repair work is expected to last one evening, but may extend over Tuesday and Wednesday night if necessary.
