MISSOULA – Missoula County Sheriff’s deputy Rebecca Birket is back to work after being on administrative leave for leaving a firearm in a faculty restroom at a school.
Birket left her service weapon in a faculty restroom at a school that is independent from the Missoula County School System while she was serving as a school resource officer.
Undersheriff Rich Marcelli said previously that the firearm was left by itself for only a short period of time.
This is not the first time that Birket has brought unwanted attention to MCSO. Back in May, Birket accidentally discharged her firearm outside of Mount Jumbo school in East Missoula after active shooter training.
Birket will return to duty in the detective division under Captain Dave Conway.
