MISSOULA – The Missoula Rural Fire Department welcomed four more people onto their emergency response team Friday.

These four people began their training on Oct. 1, and they will join the department as paramedics and firefighters on Nov. 11.

Three of the new hires will replace retiring members of the group, and one will fill a vacant firefighter position.

Libby Hooper, one of the new hires, says she is excited to begin work.

“This is the community that I love. This is my home and this is where I want to do the most good in this community,” Hooper said. “So it was really, really easy decision when I got a call from chief Newman offering me a position with Missoula Rural, that this is where I want to be. This is where I want to spend the rest of my career try to impact the most people in a positive way that I can.”

The department says that these individuals are helping them to get closer to their goal of providing Advanced Life Support emergency medical services at all MRFD Stations.
