MISSOULA – It’s the time of year for giving, whether that’s by putting presents under the tree or volunteering o help those in need there are plenty of opportunities to help out.

AniMeals supports 71 shelters and countless homeless pets and as the temperature declines the demand for food for both cats and dogs more than doubles.

People also start bringing in animals more frequently and the shelter now has a large number of kittens looking for homes.

So many in fact, that they have had to start keeping them in ferret cages but AniMeals founder Karyn Moltzen says she isn’t worried.

“You see a lot of people this time of year. The Christmas spirit is everywhere and it really does move people to give,” Moltzen said.

One anonymous donor is making an impact by donating to AniMeals and will match this month’s donations up to $10,000..
