MISSOULA – The Missoula International Airport is moving their TSA Screening Checkpoint with construction about to start for the new terminal.

The terminal checkpoint is now located in the middle of the airport in the main lobby area.

The move will create more space for passengers entering the security area.

With increased traffic in recent months due to a number of new flights, Airport Deputy Director Brian Ellestad says the larger space dedicated to the security area will be more convenient for passengers. He adds the new location makes it easier for passengers to get to their terminals.

“We think it’s actually a little more intuitive. If you are say, an Alaska Airline passenger, if you remember you had to go through security, upstairs, through a hallway, back downstairs,” Ellestad said. “Now you go through the check point and you are almost right there at your gate, so no changing levels.”

In addition, folks flying in and out will have easier access to a full restaurant and bar with more food options, and the airport is expected to add an option to get food before you go through the terminal in the near future.
