MISSOULA – Crews battled a Sunday afternoon structure fire in the Garden City.
The Missoula Fire Department was called out just after 1:45 p.m. to the 1300 block of Howell Street, a couple blocks from West Side Park.
An upstairs smoke detector was heard by a woman watching her two grandchildren. She found smoke and fire upstairs and immediately took the kids outside and called 911.
The first responders noted light smoke coming from the second floor. Some 15 firefighters and three engines responded to the scene.
No one was injured, and the fire, which caused an estimated 30,000 in damages, is still under investigation.
