MISSOULA – Missoula County Public schools announced leadership changes at Russell and Paxson elementary schools.

Cindy Christensen, the current Russell Elementary School principal, will retire on June 30 after a 26-year career in education including the past 10 years as the principal.

The current Paxson Elementary School, Peter Halloran, will be moving over to the principal position at Russell Elementary School starting with the 2019-20 school year.

Prior to his service in Missoula, Halloran was the interim principal of a private K-8 school in Butte and principal of Riverside High School in Boulder, Montana.

MCPS has posted the Paxson Principal position and plans to interview candidates in mid-to-late June.

“I am thankful for the time I worked alongside Cindy and I am excited to see Peter continue to help our district as well as the Russell school community in reaching our full potential,” commented outgoing MCPS Superintendent Mark Thane.
