MISSOULA — The River City Roots Festival will not fill the streets of downtown Missoula with live music and vendors this August for the first time since 2006.
The Missoula Downtown Association and its Roots Fest Planning Committee are looking for other ways to celebrate Missoula due to COVD-19 concerns.
Organizers will pivot the festival to allow for smaller groups and local entertainment under the reopening guidelines.
As the committee works to re-imagine Roots Fest, they say their focus will remain on Missoula, sustainability, and the river.
Some alternative ideas include a river restoration project, a virtual festival, or replay of lineups.
