UPDATE: 5 p.m. - July 9, 2021
A family managed to escape a house fire west of Missoula Friday afternoon.
A family member told MTN News there were five people inside when a dog started barking.
After opening a door the family saw smoke.
Everyone made it out safely except for two dogs that are assumed to still be inside.
The family doesn’t know what sparked the fire.

Crews are battling a structure fire west of Missoula.
Numerous agencies have responded to the scene off of US Highway 93 North.
The structure on El Torro Lane appears to be a total loss.
We have a reporter on the scene and will have additional information as it becomes available.
