MISSOULA — Missoula Job Services says that their goal for their fall hiring event is to connect employers with as many potential job seekers as they can -- and with a list of 50 employers from a range of job sectors -- there are a lot of options for job seekers.
The Montana Department of Labor and Industries Labor Day Reports shows that right now a 4% unemployment rate in Montana is contributing to a worker shortage, meaning employers desperately need to fill open positions.
Missoula Job Services recommends that job seekers head to the Southgate Mall with a professional appearance and a resume.
Even if you're not currently looking for a job the hiring event is a great way to get a feel for the market and to network with other employers.
Talking to a potential employer can be nerve wracking, and if that nervousness is keeping you from attending, just stop at Missoula Job Services before the event to be fully prepared to find your new job.
"Let's say that you turn in an application and you get called for an interview and you’re nervous about the interview. We do mock interviews down here. Give us a call we will put you through the ropes and you'll feel a lot better about what you’re doing," Tobias Wilson with the Missoula Job Services explained.
"If you want to come down and ask some questions come down here in the morning and ask us some questions and then be prepared at noon when you go down to the mall," he added.
"Remember employers are people. They aren't there to intimidate you, they aren't there to hurt you they are there to find good people. People that they want to work with," Wilson concluded.
The Labor Day report indicates that job growth will increase by .8% in adding an estimated 4,130 jobs in Montana this year.
Job Service Missoula and Southgate Mall are partnering up for the event that will be held from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday.
There are 47 employers registered, with jobs in technology, sales, health care, retail, food, and many more opportunities available.
