EAST MISSOULA — The public is invited to take part in a meeting to discuss the future on a busy road east of Missoula.

The Missoula Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is hosting an open house to discuss improvements needed to Highway 200 between Van Buren Street and Tamarack Road.

The meeting will be held at the East Missoula Fire Hall at 314 East Missoula Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The event – which is the first of three public comment phases -- will feature a brief informative presentation and a variety of discussion stations to help gather community perspectives and experiences within the Highway 200 corridor.

“Although there have been a number of previous studies and planning efforts in East Missoula, this is the first comprehensive plan for this stretch of Highway 200,” said MPO Transportation Manager Aaron Wilson said.

“It will build on existing plans by laying out in detail the steps needed to accomplish improvements," he added in a news release.

WGM Group, Inc. Which was contracted in the fall of 2019 to assist with the project has produced two initial reports, one that reviews existing studies and another that provides a technical analysis of needs.
