BOZEMAN – A bill to mandate dyslexia screening in Montana schools will make its way before the state’s legislature on February 6.

There are currently 42 states around the country that have dyslexia laws in place — Montana is not one of them.

Senate Bill 140, which will be considered this year, would define dyslexia, mandate school screenings, and require schools to provide services and accommodations for these students.

According to the National Institute of Health, 1-in-6 people are dyslexic, which equates to 200,000 Montanans.
