Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Helena

HELENA – A 39-year-old woman who was hit by a car in Helena on Friday night has died.

The Helena Police Department reports a vehicle was traveling west on Prospect Avenue in the northernmost travel lane and the victim was crossing Prospect Avenue from the south side and walking north of Prospect Avenue in the Cooke Street area.

The vehicle collided with the victim, who was a 39-year-old Helena woman. The driver, a 24-year-old Billings resident, called 911 and upon arrival on scene, first responders conducted life-saving measures for the woman.

The woman was transported to St. Peter’s Health and then was flown to Benefis Health System in Great Falls for further treatment. The victim died on Saturday morning. Her name has not yet been released.

Helena Police said the investigation is ongoing and no citations or arrests have been made at this point.
