BUTTE – Three people are safe after a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Uptown Butte.

The call came in around 1:30 p.m. from a duplex at Excelsior and Copper.  Crews were able to get the flames out quickly and even took the time to give a toy to one of the children who made it out of the burning home.

“We got some toys donated from local residents that are utilized for these types of situations where we get young children involved in some of these tragedies and just try to brighten their day a little bit and maybe put a smile on their face amidst of all this stuff going on,” said Assistant Chief Brian Doherty.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
