SIDNEY – A 66-year-old Sidney truck driver has died after being dragged by a tractor trailer on a private lot in Richland County.

Montana Highway Patrol Sergeant Nyle Obergfell says the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The man had parked his truck in the yard and spoke to a maintenance worker.

The victim then stepped between the truck and trailer, while the maintenance worker had believed the driver had gone inside a nearby building.

The maintenance worker then got inside the truck and began to move it. The driver was then caught between the truck and trailer and was subsequently dragged.

Other people on site saw the man after he had been dragged and they called 911. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

MHP has not released any names of any of those involved in the fatal accident. The incident is still under investigation, but no charges have been issued at this time.
