With a major winter storm approaching, Beartooth Pass has been closed for the season.
The Montana Department of Transportation announced the seasonal closure Tuesday morning.
The pass between Red Lodge and Vista Point had originally been scheduled to close during the upcoming holiday weekend, but the forecast is calling for significant snowfall across the region and especially at higher elevations during the next few days.
The Wyoming side of the pass was closed for the season on Sept. 25.
The pass is scheduled to reopen next spring on Memorial Day Weekend.
