BUTTE — The driver of a log-hauling truck died Monday morning when his truck caught fire after overturning near Anaconda.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jake Rhodes told MTN News the incident happened about nine miles down Mill Creek Road south of Anaconda when the driver of the empty haul truck stopped on the road at about 5:15 a.m.
The truck then rolled backward and down an embankment where it caught fire. The driver was not able to escape the cab. Trooper Rhodes said the victim, who is from the area, may have suffered a medical problem before the incident.
The name of the victim has not yet been released and the incident remains under investigation.
