An organization wants seniors to know it can help them with food and get it to them with proper COVID safety.

Family Service packs boxes for its Commodity Supplemental Food Program, a federal program that helps distribute through the state.

The program has been run by Family Service for about a year.

The assistance and other programs can help seniors with groceries so they can pay their bills.

There is a drive-through for pick-up or boxes can be delivered.

"It does supplement whatever they have in their own cupboard," said Stacy Brown, Family Service executive director. "But then along with this, each month when they come in to get it, we also provide them with fresh fruit and vegetables and other groceries. Our staff is really dedicated to helping people in the community so all of us, we find joy in the work that we do every day."

Brown suggests seniors call to check their eligibility for this and other programs offered by Family Service.

The Family Service number is 406-256-2269.
