HELENA — The state of Montana is making it easier than ever to get documents notarized.

According to the Montana Secretary of State's office, Montana notaries public will soon have the option to offer remote online notarization.

Instead of meeting with a notary in person, you'll be able to use video chat. Documents can be virtually signed, notarized and sent where they need to go in just minutes.

Secretary of State Corey Stapleton said in a news release that the new service is in response to market demand for faster, reliable and more secure notarizations.

Notaries public may start offering online notarizations beginning on Oct. 1.
