Pickup truck driver, morotcyclist killed in separate Yellowstone Co. crashes

BILLINGS — Two people were killed following two separate fatal crashes in Yellowstone County that happened less than an hour apart.

The first crash happened on Interstate 94 near Lockwood just before 9 p.m. on Monday.

A Dodge pickup truck in the left lane was passing a Chevrolet pickup truck in the right lane when the driver of the Dodge moved over too soon and clipped the other truck.

The Dodge rolled several times and the 48-year-old male driver was ejected and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

The second crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

The crash happened about 50 minutes later on 72nd Street West and Laurel Airport Road when two people on a motorcycle were rear-ended by a sedan. One of the motorcyclists died at the scene.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the sedan fled the scene and the driver has yet to be identified.

A description of the sedan was not released.

No information about the condition of the second motorcyclist was released.
