MISSOULA — Crews were able to completely contain a wildfire that started from a lightning strike in the Missoula Ranger District on Wednesday, according to a social media post from the Lolo National Forest.
The wildfire was located over six miles north of Missoula. The Lolo National Forest said the fire was just outside the boundary of the Rattlesnake Wilderness. At the scene, heli-rappellers and an engine crew are working to ensure no heat remains.
The Lolo National Forest previously said the wildfire had burned timber and grass across roughly a quarter of an acre. Smoke from the fire was visible from the city of Missoula.
