Crews are responding to a wildfire that started Wednesday in the Missoula Ranger District, according to a social media post from the Lolo National Forest.
The fire is burning outside the boundary of the Rattlesnake Wilderness and has affected timber and grass across roughly a quarter of an acre. Smoke from the fire is visible from the city of Missoula.
An engine crew is hiking to the wildfire site, while heli-rappellers have been inserted nearby, according to the Lolo National Forest.
