ARLEE – The Arlee School District will further discuss lockdown safety procedures at a school board meeting on Tuesday night after a student brought a gun to school last month.

A child brought the weapon on a school bus on the morning of October 31 and the School Resource Officer was notified of the incident.

School administrators had already confiscated the firearm and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy determined there was no longer a threat to the school.

The student was sent home and cited for misdemeanor possession of a weapon in a school building.

Arlee schools held a meeting on November 7 to discuss the incident but officials felt like more attention on the subject of school safety was needed.

Superintendent James Baldwin says that Tuesday’s meeting will revisit their current policies and there will be new ideas presented to the board on how to improve school safety.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Arlee school campus.
