HELENA — The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Lincoln County due to smoke from fires in northwest Montana and the Pacific Northwest.
The alert is in effect until 8 a.m. on Friday after which point the air quality is expected to improve.
The air quality has been "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" in Libby and in the Flathead Valley as of 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Much of western Montana meanwhile has been experiencing "Moderate" air quality including Thompson Falls and Seeley Lake.
