ALBERTON - A person has been arrested by the Mineral County Sheriff's Office in connection with an early Monday morning fire at an Alberton church.

No other information was released about the suspect.

Fire officials remain on the scene Monday night investigating the cause of the fire.

Investigators are working to determine what sparked a fire the hit at a church in the Alberton area early on Monday.

The Frenchtown Rural Fire District (FRFD) responded to the scene shortly after midnight.

Crews were able to quickly put out the flames and the fire was contained to the basement.

FRFD spokesman Mel Holtz told MTN News that the church is considered a historic structure and crews were there Monday afternoon waiting to gain access to the scene.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, FRFD and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are still working to determine what sparked the fire.
