Although many campgrounds across Montana are closing due to the colder weather approaching, many are staying open with limited amenities
In the Missoula Ranger District the Bitterroot and Siria Campgrounds will remain open with limited services,
In the Seeley Swan area all campgrounds will also remain open with limited services.
In the Ninemile district Kreis Pond Campground-closes Dec. 1st.
The Clearwater Crossing Campground- open year-round unless snow closes the road.
The National Forest Service also wants to remind fall campers to be prepared for changing weather conditions especially at high elevations- where there could be snow, creating muddy or slick road conditions.
Be careful with fire- never leave a campfire unattended and make sure your campfire is cold to the touch.
Be bear aware, the bears are out and looking for food before hibernation. Make sure to store food properly while camping to avoid unwanted human-wildlife conflicts
