MISSOULA — A Montana Highway Patrol trooper was taken to the hospital after his cruiser was struck by an oncoming vehicle Monday on Interstate 90 in Mineral County.
The trooper's wife said in a Facebook post that this is the second time the trooper was involved in an accident when a motorist didn't move over for emergency vehicles.
MHP Captain Jim Kitchen says that Trooper Zach Rahbein was responding to a separate crash, and was inside his parked car when it was hit.
Rahbein was transported to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
The vehicle that struck Rahbein was heading eastbound on 1-90 at around 10:11 a.m. on Monday near mile marker 16 in Mineral County.
We do not yet know if the driver of the vehicle was identified, apprehended, or charged. We will update you if we get more information.
