MISSOULA — Even though Black Friday has come to an end, there is still more shopping in sight for the holiday season.
Small Business Saturday is an event that encourages people to shop at local stores run by members of their own community.
Many of the small businesses in Missoula are in the downtown area which has over 50 local stores. For every dollar spent on local made products, 67 cents stays here to benefit the community.
“Small Business Saturday is probably our best day of the year,” says co-owner of One Eleven, Paige Livingston. “It triples any of the other days of the holiday season.”
In a recent shoppers poll, 80% of it's participants in Missoula say they are considering going to local stores downtown for Small Business Saturday.
Livingston says no matter what each of the small businesses decides to do with discounts or complimentary items, they do their best to bring people in.
“All of the businesses downtown have gotten on board with that," says Livingston. "We all come together to bring everyone downtown on that day.”
