BUTTE — A big event is happening in Butte this weekend as more than 30 teams from high schools in the northwestern United States will compete in a robot contest at Montana Tech.
The teams will compete against each other to see which robot can accomplish the most tasks.
"Think of it like a big basketball game or big football game," says Bryce Hill, the Montana tech Assistant professor. "but all the kids instead of playing sports are ... running around doing these robots."
Organizers say this is a highly competitive event. Top finishers in this challenge will move on to the qualifier competition at Montana State University at Bozeman in January. The event will be held in the HPER Complex at Montana Tech.
"It’s pretty physical," says Hill. "Building these robots and having them out there. There’s screaming, there’s hollering."
Volunteers are still needed for this event, If you're interested email Bryce Hill at bhill@mtech.edu for more information.
