Weather Forecast: Cool and dry weekend ahead

MISSOULA — A few lingering snow showers will remain in the mountains of northwest Montana Friday. West-central and southwest Montana will see more sunshine while northwest Montana sees a bit more cloud cover. Highs Friday top out in the 30s to low 40s.

Over all a quiet and nice weekend is ahead of us. Temperatures will be right around seasonal average topping out in the upper 30s to low 40s with a mix of sun and clouds overhead.

A weak system looks to bring snow back to the mountains by Monday and Tuesday of next week while the valleys stay mostly dry. Highs remain in the 30s and 40s.

By Wednesday, models are hinting at a cold front moving through the northern Rockies. This could bring a return of snow to the mountains and valleys by the middle of next week.
