MISSOULA — High pressure will lead to sunny skies and hot temperatures Tuesday with highs ranging from the upper 80's to mid 90's.

Wednesday will be another hot day, however, clouds will be increasing by the afternoon in southwest Montana.

A few thunderstorms may even develop by the late afternoon and evening. Northwest Montana will see abundant sunshine Wednesday.

Expect highs in the upper 80's to middle 90's.

Our first push of Monsoon moisture from the southwest is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to all of western Montana Thursday.

Factor this in with an approaching cold front, and some strong storms could develop for locations along and south of I-90. Rain showers and thunderstorms do look to be most widespread in southwest Montana.

Expect cooler temperatures Thursday behind the cold front with highs in the low to middle 80's.

Sunny skies and dry weather returns to the forecast Friday and continues through the weekend with temperatures hovering right around seasonal average, mid to upper 80's.

Looking at the extended forecast, models show high pressure returning to the northern Rockies moving into next week.

This will allow hot temperatures to return as highs warm back into the 90's.
