Weather Forecast: Nice weekend ahead

MISSOULA — The system that brought the rain and thunderstorms yesterday will continue to slide east. As it does, sunny skies will return to all of western Montana Friday.

With that being said, enough residual moisture will linger in southwest Montana where the heaviest rain fell yesterday. Because of this a few isolated thunderstorms can't be ruled out by the afternoon.

West-central and northwest Montana will see breezy winds develop this afternoon and evening. Gusts around 25-30 mph will be likely. Those with boating plans, especially on Flathead lake, should expect choppy lake conditions.

The weekend is shaping up to be beautiful. Expect sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 80s Saturday and middle to upper 80s Sunday.

For those who like the hot temperatures, 90s will return to the forecast next week as a ridge of high pressure builds over western US. This ridge looks to stay in place through most of next week leading sunny, warm and dry days.
