MISSOULA — The low-pressure system that brought all the rain earlier in the week will slowly be moving out, and as it does, warmer and drier weather will begin moving into the northern Rockies.

High temperatures Thursday will top out mostly in the low to middle 70's. Sunny skies are expected across southwest Montana. Northwest Montana will see a bit more cloud cover through the day with mostly to partly cloudy skies.

Breezy winds will develop Thursday afternoon. The strongest winds will be found in west-central and southwest Montana with gusts around 25-35 mph. Northwest Montana will see winds gust around 20-25 mph.

Very pleasant weather is expected through the Holiday weekend with high temperatures Friday, Saturday and Sunday ranging from the upper 70's to middle 80's. One thing to keep in mind, each afternoon, especially for areas south of I-90 will have the chance to see scattered rain showers and thunderstorms develop.

This weather pattern of pleasant temperatures and scattered afternoon thunderstorms looks to continue into the middle of next week. This will keep temperatures hovering right at to slightly below seasonal averages as highs top out in the 70's to low 80's.
