MISSOULA — During the COVID-19 pandemic many businesses in Missoula and Western Montana are fighting to stay open.

We've been highlighting local business whose doors are still open for pick up or take out.

One Missoula favorite, Big Dipper, just reopened its doors in time for warmer weather. The popular ice cream shop reopened on Monday after being closed for nearly three weeks.

Big Dipper is restricting customers to online orders only. After ordering, you'll get a confirmation email, then text alerts as to when your ice cream will be ready and how to pick it up safely. When you arrive, go up to the window and tell the cashier your name and they'll leave the order at the window.

They're offering half pints, pints, quarts and cones with various toppings. You can also buy a root beer float kit.

"I think it's important during this weird time to give people a sense of normalcy, and big dipper is such a big part of the Missoula culture and especially this time of year," said manager Jordan Cox. "It's nice to be able to let people return to at least semi-normal."

The hours have changed as they'll be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
