Disney cancels ‘Descendants 3’ red carpet premiere after death of Cameron Boyce

Disney Channel has canceled the red carpet premiere event for “Descendants 3,” and instead willhonor Cameron Boyce in a different way.

Boyce was 20 when he died in his sleep this month after a seizure.

In a statement, Disney Channel said its parent company will donate to the Thirst Project, a nonprofit Boyce was heavily involved in that provides communities with safe drinking water.

Boyce starred in “Jessie” and “Eagle Eye” alongside Shia LaBeouf, along with “Grown Ups” with Adam Sandler. In Disney Channel’s “Descendants,” he played Cruella De Vil’s teenage son, Carlos. The premiere was scheduled for July 22.

With permission from his family, “Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of “Descendants 3″ in Cameron Boyce’s memory,” the channel said.

It paid tribute to the actor on Twitter, saying he stayed true to himself and stood for what he believed in.

“We are overwhelmed by the love in action that we’ve seen as you seek to honor our friend & brother,” Thirst Project wroteon Twitter “Cameron’s spirit lives on in your actions & we will do our best to share any more ideas we may have as it becomes available in the days & weeks to come.”

Sandler, urged others to support causes Boyce was committed to.

He was set to appear in the comedy series “Mrs. Fletcher,” which is set to hit HBO this fall.
