New Yorkers and other citizens of the world, get ready to rock for a cause. The headliners for this year’s Global Citizen Festival, which will be held September 28 in Central Park, pack a big punch.
Queen, still riding its “Bohemian Rhapsody” publicity bump, will perform, with Adam Lambert on vocals. Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams, OneRepublic, H.E.R. and Carole King will also headline the event, which highlights Global Citizen‘s mission of ending poverty.
“Where you live shouldn’t determine whether you live,” Pharrell tweeted on Tuesday, talking about his partnership with the Global Citizen cause.
The list of hosts, presenters and special guests is also stacked. From A-list actors like Hugh Jackman and Taraji P. Henson to award-winning musicians like Ben Platt and French Montana, all sorts of celebs are getting in on the action. Even Bill Nye, the science guy-turned-viral star, is set to make an appearance.
Those who want in can’t just buy a ticket to the star-studded concert. “Global citizens” earn their way into the audience by taking actions like signing petitions, tweeting about issues or calling their senators.
The event will also be broadcast on MSNBC and livestreamed on YouTube and Twitter, for those who can’t make their way to the Big Apple.
“The policies and progress that we make this year, and into 2020, will determine whether we successfully eradicate extreme poverty by 2030, and failure is not an option for the world’s poor,” Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have such an iconic lineup of artists, hosts, and partners join us at such a pivotal moment for this fight as we ask governments and world leaders to take action and end extreme poverty.”
