OILDALE, Calif. (KERO) — The man arrested earlier this month for allegedly murdering his 57-year-old wife told investigators that “it was an act of mercy” and blamed powerful people and mayonnaise, according to newly released court documents.
On July 12, KCSO officials were called out to 46-year-old Nathaniel Robertson and his wife Lidia Robertson’s home on Sycamore Drive. Neighbors told 23ABC that they could hear screams coming from the home.
In court documents obtained by 23ABC, investigators said Robertson told them that he was getting information from a “time roll” but said he didn’t know the science behind what he was talking about. Robertson also told investigators that he was fearful that “powerful people” were going to abuse his wife, Lidia, and that they liked to eat other people.
When asked by officials if he was on drugs, Robertson replied that he was using “ice” to help with difficulties of breathing.
Robertson also went on to say that he had an infection on his inner thigh from “mayonnaise” people had put in him.
According to the report, Robertson told investigators that he used a piece of concrete between 8-12 inches across and hit his wife four times in the head.
Deputies found Lidia Robertson dead at the scene after suffering from major trauma.
Shortly after, Robertson was identified as a suspect and arrested in connection with her death. Officials said Roberts has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge or corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant in 1994.
He’s scheduled to be back in court July 31.
