MISSOULA – Once again this year a ceremony will be held in Missoula to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that happened back in 2001.

The United Veterans Council of Missoula and Ravalli Counties will once again host the annual Never Forget Service on Tuesday, September 11th  beginning at 7 p.m. at Rose Memorial Garden Park. The event is open to the public.

The line-up for the service by honor and color guards will be at the Korean War Memorial at 6:45 p.m. with a slow walk to the Vietnam Memorial where the service will take place.

The honor and color guards participating in the memorial include the American Legion Post 27 Color Guard, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 209 Honor Guard, the Knights of Columbus Patriotic Order Color Guard, the University of Montana ROTC Color Guard, the Missoula Civil Air Patrol Color Guard, and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

Representatives of local fire and police departments will also take part in the event.

The Missoula Exchange Club and members of the UVC and ROTC will place thousands of tiny American flags into the ground in front of the Vietnam Memorial to represent the men, women and children killed in the 2001 attacks prior to the service.
