MISSOULA – The 50th anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon is the focus of the University of Montana’s 21st annual Community Lecture Series.

Six university professors will discuss a variety of topics centered around this historic event over the next few weeks.

The Shoot for the Moon series will highlight the evolution of space exploration and the many discoveries exploration has yielded.

The lecture series provides an opportunity for UM to showcase professors from a number of departments sharing the expertise on the final frontier.

“We try and hit various areas, I mean obviously we get lots of new ideas, and then it’s just finding the best fit for a particular topic. We get people from astrophysics and geology, and history — that type of thing,” event coordinator Angela Weisenburger said.

The lectures are being held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the University Center Theater. Tickets for all six lectures are $25 for the public and $10 dollars for students.  Seats are limited.
