MISSOULA — This week’s One Class at a Time grant winner is Franklin Elementary music teacher Brandon Ensley.
Ensley is receiving a $250 thanks to Republic Services and KPAX-TV. He'll use the money to add to his collection of ukuleles.
He says this grant will put him close to his goal of having a ukulele for every student in the classroom. Ensley says the ukulele is a fairly difficult instrument for them to learn, but with patience they enjoy the hard work they put into it.
"For the elementary kids, it’s exciting. They like playing an instrument that they’re more familiar with and looks more like the real thing, and it’s a good precursor to guitar," Ensley said.
