6 Facts About Disney Star Cameron Boyce

Co-stars of Cameron Boyce are mourning alongside family members and fans of the popular Disney Channel actor, who died in his sleep on July 7.

He had a history of seizures, which may have contributed to his death, law enforcement officials said.

The 20-year-old was well known and had a big resume — he was working in Hollywood by the time he was 10, when he landed a role on “General Hospital: Night Shift.”

Here are some facts about Boyce that you may not have known:

1. He Played Adam Sandler’s Son In The “Grown Ups” Movies

Adam Sandler, who played Boyce’s father in the films “Grown Ups” and “Grown Ups 2,” tweeted a photo of Boyce upon hearing about the young actor’s death. “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny,” Sandler wrote. “Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave us.”

2. Boyce Was In A Panic! At The Disco Video

Boyce first appeared screen in a music video. In 2008, he was in the video for “That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)” as a young version of Panic! At The Disco guitarist, Ryan Ross. It was his television debut, and just one month later, he landed a recurring role on “General Hospital: Night Shift,” a nighttime soap opera.

3. Dancing Was His True Passion

Boyce showed off his dance skills in the web series, “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers” in 2010 and appeared as a featured dancer on “Dancing With The Stars” in a Royal Tribute episode in 2011. Also that year, Boyce appeared as a featured dancer on the Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up.” He was also a member of a break-dancing crew with his friends called X Mob.

4. The Role Of Luke Ross Was Tailored For Him

Boyce’s role on the series “Jessie” was originally planned as a boy named Hiro adopted from Korea. But those who cast him liked his auditions so much, they recreated the role for Cameron, even renaming it.

He played Luke from 2011-15 on “Jessie” and then played the same character on “Bunk’d” and as a voice role in an episode of “Ultimate Spider-Man.”

5. Boyce Was A Philanthropist

In 2017, he helped raise nearly $30,000 for the Thirst Project, which works to get clean water to underdeveloped countries. Boyce’s efforts led to the nonprofit building wells for clean water in Swaziland.

6. Boyce Will Appear On Screen One More Time

Boyce also starred in the “Descendants” franchise, and another film is coming out this summer. So fans will get to see him on screen again one last time, when “Descendants 3” is released on Aug. 2.

He plays the role of Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil. Director Kenny Ortega tweeted this photo of him in character:
