MISSOULA — Fort Missoula held the annual Fall Harvest Festival and Apple Day on Sunday.

Fall activities from gourd games, pumpkin painting, and living history were there for families to enjoy

"It's kind of off in this little section of town that you don't really think about coming to all the time," historical reenactor Austin Haney said.

"But there's really a lot here. We've got some wonderful museums, wonderful grounds here, great buildings, that just kind of show case what we have here in Missoula," he added. "It's a real special place."

People tried cider making with an old fashioned apple press. And miniature horse rides showed kids-how people used to get around. Tours of the buildings, fall themed crafts and food trucks also added to the festivities.

Kira Wahler helped with the re-enactments. But, she says people's favorite part of the day, was her horses.

"Kids especially want to come up and pet the horse. Then they'll start asking questions, or their parents will start asking questions. It's a really nice way to kind of bridge the gap between history and the present-with something to draw people in with," Wahler said.

Entry was free, but people left donations for the Missoula Food Bank.
