HELENA — The Governor’s Grizzly Bear Advisory Council will have its inaugural meeting in Helena on October 3rd and 4th.
The meetings are open to the public, and will take place at Kleffner Ranch.
The council’s first meeting will put together an action plan for what the group will be working on for the next year. The meeting will feature presentations on topics such as grizzly bear biology, as well as discussions on key issues and challenges.
Shawn Johnson and Heather Stokes from the University of Montana’s Center for Natural Resource & Environmental Policy will host the meeting. The council will also involve Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff.
The council was initially developed in March, when Governor Steve Bullock announced his intention to appoint a citizen advisory council to facilitate a statewide discussion on long-term grizzly bear management and conservation.
